Oat Cookies With Chocolate Chips

10 Feb

I like small treats. Treats to nibble. My sister & her family visit us on weekends, so I plan, every time, to bake something sweet for the kids, and for us. Mainly, the sweets are for us, the grown-ups, the kids would taste a small bite and the rest is ours. Actually, what I love about it is that, after lunch, we gather round for dessert and some coffee, and we chat, sitting all the evening chatting.

I love that time spent with family, those afternoons, rainy afternoons, where we gather for hours, munching sweets, staying warm and chatting.

The first thing that came to my mind is to bake some chocolate chip cookies. I know I made some two weeks ago, but this time I wanted to add some oatmeal and chocolate chips. And I do not need a reason to bake every week the same dessert, am I right?! 🙂

I was happy that day, because I baked different desserts. The cookies for me; my sister had people over dinner, so she asked if I could prepare something sweet for her, so I did the easy chocolate cake. And mom asked for sfouf, to bring to our sick neighbour. This made my day, baking three different kinds of sweets.

The cookies were delicious, they were crispy and soft. Perfect for breakfast, also, and they become chewier in time, which I like alot.

Mini Brioche Buns

Brioche with Tilleul Honey

Today, Fragole e Farfalle turns one. It’s been a very new, interesting blogging year; I was introduced to the world of blogging by my friend Confettina, a world that I liked alot. The fact of managing & mastering a website is quite good; many friends were impressed how I got to write a blog, manage the features, widgets and theme. In the begining, it was a complicated thing to do, even to search for the simplest thing; now, it is the easiest.

I was also introduced to the amazing world of food blogs. The chefs, the beautiful food pictures, the delicious recipes, the interesting posts and stories, which kept me more attached to my dream and project, more desireful, more ambitious. I got motivated to bake, and bake and bake. I was happy being in the kitchen baking, trying new recipes, fail and succeed. I learnt alot.

Getting a new professional camera will give me the opportunity to take and post more beautiful pictures, the way I see them, beautiful and delicious, and being able to make others enjoy them. Impatient for that day to come.

For this occasion, I decided to bake a new recipe; this no-knead brioche recipe. You won’t believe how yummi and nice the smell was in the whole house. A warm, cosy, buttery smell. Of course I tasted a warm brioche, the minute they got out of the oven, and I couldn’t not eat more than one. They were extremely delicious, still warm; soft, buttery. I drizzled on it some Tilleul honey, tried some apricot jam, all delicious.

And even delicious when, the following morning, I heated a piece of brioche ( actually two!), they were still so yummi; of course I didn’t miss the cup of black coffee, (am I right, hubby!!??:) ) Continue reading

Cake With Oranges, Almonds & Cinnamon

26 Jan

I was baking a cake yesterday afternoon, when I should have been at work. Why, because of delicate political issues occuring in the country and people manifesting in the streets who decided to close roads, (in my opinion), in an uncivilized way, all the employees were given permission to leave their desks so they can reach their home safely.

I took the opportunity to bake a cake. So on my way home, I passed by the supermarket to get the stuff. I was reading few new foodblogs when I found an interesting one, with nice delicious recipes, named Menta E Liquirizia. I found a good recipe of a cake with oranges, almonds and cinnamon, favourite ingredients.

Now, writing this post, I’m enjoying a piece of this cake with a cup of coffee.

The cake is soo delicious, I shared it with the family, everyone liked it. I liked the almond flavour with a touch of cinnamon, and citrus. The cake is soft, tender and the almond’s smell is so nice and warm.

Butternut Squash bread

26 Nov

This squash is been sitting on the floor for a while now. It should be in the kitchen, being cooked and baked. Cutting a squash or a pumpkin is very hard, it needs very strong hands, a guy should take this role. I used a quarter of it and the rest is reserved in the fridge for this weekend, I’ll help my mom preparing another sweet.

The relative who brought us this squash told us it was a pumpkin, but its shape, as I searched for on the internet, is different than the pumpkin. Am I right?

This morning, I had a piece of the cake for breakfast with a cup of black coffee. Perfect. It was soft, tender, sweet and has a strong cinnamon flavor. I love cinnamon.

As the original recipe, pumkpin bread, calls for pumpkin, I’m wondering if the pumpkin would have gave a different taste to the cake, and would have balanced the cinnamon flavor.

Omelette With Mushrooms, Parsley & Parmesan

11 Oct

Usually I eat omelettes and eggs for breakfast but that time I prepared this omelette for lunch; why not, it’s a full, rich, savoury meal.

I also like scrambled eggs, and sometimes I sauté some sliced mushrooms and cherry tomatoes with olive oil before pouring over the eggs.

For this recipe, I beat in a bowl 2 eggs, season with salt and pepper and then I stir in some grated parmesan. Set aside.

In a hot skillet, I drizzle some olive oil, sautée the mushrooms, then after few minutes I add 2 chopped sun-dried tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle some chopped parsley. Remove from skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, without adding olive oil, on low heat, add the eggs and let cook for couple of minutes until golden then flip to the other side. Add the mushroom mixture on top and some parmesan.

Bon Appétit.

Persimmon, Banana Smoothie

11 Oct

I like to start my day with something refreshing like a smoothie to boost my energy. So I mixed one banana with one persimmon (without the skin) and the juice of half an orange.

It is sweet, smooth, refreshing drink. Hope you like it.

Banana, Melon Smoothie

23 Jul

It has been long, since I did a fruits smoothie for breakfast. Yesterday I had the time, since I was home, I didn’t go to work. So we, my husband and I, took all the time to prepare our yummi breakfast. And this is the kind of breakfast I desire and won’t mind at all to have every morning.

I just mixed some fruits I happen to have in the fridge, bananas, orange, melons, peach and home-made strawberry jam. The result was extremely delicious. To complete the breakfast, a plate full of pancakes followed the smoothie, along with a cup of black coffee. Yummiii… It is one the perfect breakfasts to me.

Whole Wheat Flour & Oatmeal Pancakes

10 May

These days the best breakfast i could have is pancakes with a cup of black coffee. I’ve been preparing pancakes every week-end for several months and this time i decided to post some pictures. Before we used all-purpose flour, but lately we’re opting to whole wheat flour and this last time i ground some oats to add some more flavors and fibers to our meal.

The topping i like is to drizzle some honey over the pancakes and then sprinkle ground cinnamon…. yummi the best ever…   and aside you sip a cup of black coffee… the best combination…
