About Me

Tina… The cedar I planted few years ago, but unfortunately, it short-lived.

Mimi is an ambitious person. Food is her passion. She loves the nature, animals and a good gathering around food.

My husband and I moved to Canada in August 2013 and now live in Toronto, Ontario. I am originally from a beautiful village called DeirMimas, South of Lebanon, situated on a hill, overlooking the Litani river, facing a splendid mountain and surrounded by olive trees. I love spending summer days at my home village, enjoying the wild wind, even during the summer, the summer fruits, figs & prickly pears, olive harvest and a lot more.

I love Lebanese sweets… alot..

I’m interested in everything that is Italian. I, once, went to Italy and fell in love with. My dream is to go live in Italy for a year, with my husband, leave everything and choose a beautiful city where we can enjoy its beautiful sceneries and savoury food. Exploring a culinary job while practicing my Italian.

I love traveling, seeing new cities, beautiful nature, knowing new cultures, new food, new faces… wandering the streets, looking for new bakeries and food stores.

I love taking pictures of food, nature, trees, beautiful sites, animals… wishing that soon I could get a new professional camera. ( now I got that cam, and I enjoy exploring it alot)

I am not a cook and I haven’t followed any professional culinary courses. But I love baking, I love to try new recipes, I love being in the kitchen, I love when the house smells a hot cake and I love to see people’s faces when tasting what I have baked for them…

So this blog is a start for me in the world of food, of cuisine.  And this blog is an opportunity for me to share this passion with the hope of fulfilling it by becoming a pastry chef. A lot has changed, currently I’m enrolled in a Baking & Pastry program; I finished the first year, I have learned a lot, it was an exciting and outstanding year. So now, I’m closer of fulfilling my dream (Edited). Until then, I’ll keep on baking, sharing with you the recipes and the pictures I take of the nature, of my lovely village and the trips we make, as I’ll appreciate every comment you leave, and notifying me if you would like to use any of the pictures of this blog.

Enjoy my blog.

Hello Chris, thanks for your comments, I’m glad you liked it. I may not know you in person, but I know your posts on Facebook about Deirmimas. Yeah I started this blog long time ago, with the purpose of sharing some travel memories as well as to share amazing scenes of our beloved village. It’s been a long time since i have posted anything. I would have loved to take more pictures of Deirmimas but i go there once a year and time passes by quickly. Thanks for passing by.

My family is also from Diermimas (the Hourani family, the Aboods, the Fawaz’s) and I visited Lebanon for the first time last May. I live in the U.S., in Michigan, and I write a Lebanese food blog called Rose Water & Orange Blossoms. I look forward to enjoying your site!

I fell in love with Italy when I visited it too! I would love to live in Rome for a while. And my friend in Italy tells me I should have been Italian because I am so touchy about authenticity and techniques of pasta making lol. The only difference between you and me is that I love cooking and not baking. Baking is not my natural thing, cooking is though. It takes a lot of effort to bake and I admire people who can do it effortlessly. Yeah Beyrouth is nice for tourism, family and may I add cuisine. I am glad I found your blog, my husband is a good baker maybe he will be able to make the Lebanese pastries as well as his own too 😀

    • Fragolina June 20, 2012 at 7:03 am #

thank you for your comment Viviane. 🙂 it’s a dream to go live in Italy and explore every inch of it, starting from its nature and architecture to its cuisine and culture. I love both cooking and baking but I tend to prepare sweets and dessert. So you have visited Beirut! I particularly love the Lebanese desserts, such a wide variety..

      • Viviane June 21, 2012 at 4:35 am #

I lived in Beirut all my life, till a few months ago. I moved to California to be with my husband, and it is a great experience to cook Lebanese dishes for him. He is enjoying the flavors and I am converting him to eating veggies he was not so eager about before.

      • Fragolina June 21, 2012 at 9:39 am #

Oh so you’re Lebanese! 🙂 for me it’s always a great pleasure to cook and bake.
