Rigatoni With Tuna and Tomatoes

9 Jul

My husband and I love this dish. It’s rich in flavours and hot. A lot of people don’t like canned tuna heated, I don’t know why, maybe because it smells fish, I know it is so delicious combined with the pasta, the tomatoes and a hint of hotness from the red pepper.

I saw this recipe once on a tv show hosted by Jamie Oliver. It takes no time, it’s so easy and yummiiii. You should try it. And tell me what you think.

Rigatoni with tuna & tomatoes (for 2 hungry persons)

-250g rigatoni

-200g canned tuna with red pepper

-400g canned whole tomatoes

-1 medium onion, grated

-olive oil

-half teaspoon of cinnamon

-few basil leaves

Put a good amount of olive oil in a large pan over medium heat with the red pepper from the canned tuna, the cinnamon and the basil stalks. Then add the onion, stir for 2 minutes until the onions soften.

Add the tuna and stir, let stand for 5 minutes. Add the canned tomatoes and let simmer for 15 minutes. Then add the torned basil leaves.

In the meantime, cook the rigatoni to al dente.

Toss the pasta in the tuna mix and splash it with some lemon juice. You can top the pasta with some grated parmesan. Delicious.

Enjoy.

Yes mimi it is a great, quick and yummi meal…too bad not everybody likes it.

I was thinking maybe soon we’ll cook it together for the rest of the familia, just to get them used to it. Incase they didn’t like it you know what I always say “more food for us” :).

I have this recipe in one of my Jamie Olive cookbooks. I’ve tried it and it really is delicious. At first, I was like ‘cinnamon with tuna’?? But after I tried it, it was amazing!

Yes It is amazing so delicious…. George and I loved it and it’s super quick when we’re hungry and since we like to eat pasta always, this is a great recipe. :)
